Summary / Role Purpose

The Director of Strategic Partnerships is responsible for leading key top-tier partnerships and strategic partner-related initiatives at Ansys. This includes managing existing engagements to increase business value and seeking new opportunities to expand these partnerships. These relationships are key to Ansys' business growth and have significant visibility with the executive management teams of both companies. This person will manage selected strategic partnerships aligned with the company's strategic priorities and goals. Success in this role will be measured by delivering on the agreed-upon goals and metrics of the partnership and key related initiatives, driving both short-term and long-term objectives. You will be working closely with other internal stakeholders to form a cross-functional team - including Ansys sales, product, corporate strategy, and marketing teams, as well as Ansys senior management to ensure success of the relationship(s) for both Ansys and our most strategic partners.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Focus on cloud partnerships and grow Ansys' cloud business by working proactively across multiple partner types, including hyperscalers, independent software vendors (ISVs), global systems integrators (GSIs) and channel partners
  • Proactively manage the strategic partnership(s) and initiatives, driving the partner and the internal cross-functional team to jointly define strategy and requirements, then deliver on agreed-upon business targets
  • Define and reinforce Ansys interests related to the strategic partners in alignment with senior management goals while representing the partner's goals to internal ANSYS team members
  • Influence a team of executives and senior sales and technology professionals (at ANSYS and partners)
  • Develop and iterate upon appropriate go-to-market plans in coordination with ANSYS and partner business or product requirements
  • Look for opportunities to expand the partnership(s) to other business areas, industries, geographies in support of Ansys' growth strategy - more users, more products, more computations
  • Prioritize sales and product investments, and measure ROI results
  • Orchestrate the execution of all elements of the partnership agreement
  • Ensure that all appropriate internal processes and legal frameworks are in place to effectively manage and govern the partnership(s)
  • Represent Ansys as an industry leader with partners, customers, and other audiences
  • Ensure that our strategic partnerships and partnership processes are appropriately visible both internally and externally

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience
  • 15+ years of successful B2B partnership experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage partner programs, and drive execution to deliver results
  • Proven track record of successfully building relationships and negotiating with senior executives across organizations
  • Ability to think creatively, work on complex problems and provide out-of-the-box solutions
  • Ability to drive strategy while also knowing and managing the operational details of the relationship
  • Use independent judgment to accomplish objectives with high integrity
  • Work independently and regularly provide detailed status updates, raise and resolve issues with urgency
  • Work cohesively with immediate as well as broader team
  • Knowledge of alliances development, management principles, and processes
  • Experience with successfully negotiating and restructuring complex agreements
  • Ability to travel as needed, including internationally - 30%
  • Strong attention to detail, entrepreneurial, creative, open-minded, persistent and collaborative
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Passionate about technology, partners, and the Ansys business

Preferred Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or technology
  • MBA preferred
  • Previous work experience with a technology company, cloud business models, cloud technology providers, and SaaS is desirable
  • Work experience in a CAE or product engineering customer-facing role is a plus
