Job Description

HDR is seeking a highly motivated individual to work on securing significant pursuits for our Transportation business. The Transportation Strategic Pursuits Leader is a senior level position, and an important goal will be to achieve success on metrics for win rate, budget management, and contribution to the growth of key Operating Area level and Business Group programs. This results-driven individual will lead strategic pursuit teams; coordinate program procedures and processes for the identification, screening and recommendation of strategic project pursuits; facilitate strategic client relationship management efforts; and organize, manage, and produce the strategic pursuit.

The Transportation Strategic Pursuits Leader will collaborate with Business Group leaders across the operation including Market Sector, Business Class, Region, and Operating Area Directors to provide guidance, oversight, support of executing the Strategic Pursuits program. This role will report to the Strategic Pursuits Team Lead.

Responsibilities

Strategic Pursuits Management

Anticipated travel for this role is 30% to 40%

Lead strategic project pursuits in accordance with the HDR Strategic Pursuits program.

Coordinate and lead the identification, screening and recommendation for strategic pursuit targets to be agreed and approved by Transportation Business Group management.

Coordinate priorities and goals with Market Sector, Business Class, Region, and Operating Area Directors.

Initiate positioning strategies well in advance of an RFP release to best position HDR, our project leadership and teaming partners for success. This includes a full understanding of our qualifications to meet scope requirements.

Work with Area leadership on cadence, schedule and facilitation of virtual and in-person meetings and pursuit workshops to carry out the HDR Strategic Pursuits program.

Lead, manage and partner with assigned Strategic Pursuit and Campaign staff to capture intelligence, create the win messaging and themes, refine project and resume qualifications, manage action items and produce the proposal.

Monitor regional strategic pursuit program implementation that adheres to company procedures, standards, quality assurance and risk management.

Establish and manage pursuit budgets and costs for all strategic pursuits within your purview.

Business Development + Training

In partnership with local managers and client development leads, facilitate strategic client relationship management activities applicable to the strategic pursuit to obtain project knowledge, scope understanding and client preferences.

Coordinate and lead the identification, screening and recommendation of dynamic strategic client management programs and Business Group initiative efforts that lead to increased business and market share. Work with local Area teams and TBG Leadership to identify candidate clients/programs.

Be a facilitator and trainer of HDR-produced marketing training programs for staff to learn pursuit concepts and practices, and specifically those who are involved in winning work.

Stay current with existing and new service offerings across Market Sector, Business Class, Cross Sector and Business Group.

Collaborate and provide input to Area and Market Sector teams during the Annual Planning efforts.

Serve as a company role model in industry and community, including professional organization involvement.

Be a mentor and role model holding the highest regard for HDR's values.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience
  • Demonstrated "self-starter" with a history of completing projects with limited oversight
  • Deep knowledge of the A/E/C industry's standard approach to procurement of professional services
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire others
  • Maintain a professional or engineering registration or certificate or have related technical experience
  • Experience in sales and developing effective win strategies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability and desire to travel and engage with others in-person
  • Demonstrated experience in writing compelling content based on information from technical staff
