Structural Engineer Co-op- Charlotte, NC

Job Summary:

As a Structural Engineer Co-op at SteelFab, you'll gain hands-on experience in various facets of structural design, working collaboratively with our Engineering, Modeling, and Project Management teams across a diverse array of projects. Throughout your three co-op rotations, you'll progressively build your expertise and skill set by engaging in key responsibilities that contribute to the success of each project

Key Responsibilities:

• Drawing and Specification Review: Analyze structural and architectural drawings alongside project specifications to ensure design accuracy and compliance.
• Structural Design Assistance: Contribute to the structural design of steel buildings
• Connection Design: Assist in the design of bolted and welded connections for both gravity and lateral force-resisting systems.
• Code Compliance: Learn and apply code requirements for wind and seismic lateral systems
• 3D Modeling and Design: Collaborate with the Detailing team to design and model connections in a 3D environment.
• Site Erection Planning: Develop detailed site erection plans.
• Collaborative Design: Work closely with project Architects and Engineers to align designs with project goals and specifications.
• Drawing Review: Review fabrication and erection drawings to ensure they meet project requirements.
• Technology Enhancement: Partner with the Software Development team to innovate and improve design technology, contributing to the advancement of industry practices.

• Fabrication Shop Experience: Gain hands-on experience with the fabrication flow and production processes, deepening your understanding of the entire construction lifecycle.

Qualifications and Requirements

Major: Civil Engineering with a focus on Structures

Required: Strong interest or experience in the engineering and construction industry. Competency in PDF's, Microsoft Excel and Word, common computer skills

Preferred: Passed EIT exam or scheduled to take exam prior to graduation
