Qualifications and Requirements
Major: Civil Engineering with a focus on Structures
Required: Strong interest or experience in the engineering and construction industry. Competency in PDF's, Microsoft Excel and Word, common computer skills
Preferred: Passed EIT exam or scheduled to take exam prior to graduation
Key Responsibilities:
- Drawing and Specification Review: Analyze structural and architectural drawings alongside project specifications to ensure design accuracy and compliance.
- Structural Design Assistance: Contribute to the structural design of steel buildings.
- Connection Design: Assist in the design of bolted and welded connections for both gravity and lateral force-resisting systems.
- Code Compliance: Learn and apply code requirements for wind and seismic lateral systems
- 3D Modeling and Design: Collaborate with the Detailing team to design and model connections in a 3D environment.
- Site Erection Planning: Develop detailed site erection plans
- Collaborative Design: Work closely with project Architects and Engineers to align designs with project goals and specifications.
- Drawing Review: Review fabrication and erection drawings to ensure they meet project requirements.
- Technology Enhancement: Partner with the Software Development team to innovate and improve design technology, contributing to the advancement of industry practices.
- Fabrication Shop Experience: Gain hands-on experience with the fabrication flow and production processes, deepening your understanding of the entire construction lifecycle.
