Responsibilities

The SGA Advisor (Program Manager) supports programming and community building initiatives for the Student Government Association (SGA) Student Senate, Congress of Graduate Students, and the SGA Institutes.
  • Advises the FSU Student Senate and/or the Congress of Graduate Students, including the standing committees and funding boards thereof. Attends meetings and events, meets one-on-one with student leaders, and provides guidance and support. Interprets, applies, and ensures compliance with SGA governing documents, Florida Statues, and Florida State University policies and regulations. Ensure proper and timely processing of SGA bills, resolutions, journals, calendars, open SGA student positions, and reports in collaboration with the Student Governance & Advocacy Office Assistant. Coordinates educational curriculum, training materials, learning outcomes, and assessments for all student leaders with appropriate materials collaboratively and under the direction of the Director of Student Governance & Advocacy.
  • Coordinates programs and activities to support students by cultivating a sense of belonging, connecting to academic resources, building personal and professional networks, and progressing toward graduation. Activities include, but are not limited to, community building events, advocacy, semester socials, faculty outreach events, and appreciation weeks.
  • Facilitates and coordinates the SGA Freshman Leadership Institute and/or Transfer Leadership Institute by engaging students in weekly curriculum and programming, creating connections across campus for presentations and curriculum, assessing student needs, and supporting students to increase their ability to be successful on campus. Develops ongoing programming and connection opportunities for the identified student populations.
  • Advises SGA entities and student leaders in areas of connection and belonging and programming. Attends departmental and other programs, meetings, and events; meets one-on-one with top student leaders and provides guidance and support. Assists students and staff with policies and procedures including but not limited to the State of Florida Statutes, Florida Administrative Code, Student Body Constitution, Student Body Statutes, COGS code, other SGA governing documents, and rules and regulations of Florida State University.
  • Supports and coordinates assessment initiatives for groups advised, in coordination with the SG&A Program Director, connecting outcomes to divisional and institutional goals and utilizing assessment and evaluation tools for programs and services.
  • Creates and disseminates information across the campus community and to current, new, and prospective students regarding student leadership institutes, student engagement opportunities, networks, and support. Collaborates with outside departments, including the Graduate School, academic colleges, New Student & Family Programs, Transfer Student Services, the Career Center, the Center for Global Engagement, and others, establishing and maintaining strong working relationships and providing understanding for the department and student needs. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree and four years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.)

Anticipated Salary Range

The anticipated salary range will be high $40,000's to mid $50,000's based upon experience and qualifications.
