Job Summary/Basic Function

The Student Success Center (SSC) at Weber State University is now hiring Student Success Advocates on the SSC Thrive Team. The SSC Thrive Team is a group of student staff that aim to support and promote campus connection, student development, and academic success.

Student Success Advocates will be assigned to three main areas: outreach, programming, and general office and front desk support. These students are selected for their high energy and commitment to their roles.

Our goal is to ensure that our student staff members have a meaningful and memorable experience as part of our team. We are committed to supporting your success as a college student and your growth as a future professional. We offer training opportunities to help you achieve your personal and professional objectives.

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Education
    • 2.5 GPA or higher (must be maintained while working in this position and remain in good standing with the university)
    • Full or part-time enrollment at WSU
    • Must have completed at least two (2) semesters at WSU or equivalent


  • Required Skills:
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
    • Subject matter expertise
    • Dependable, organized, collaborative, and can follow instructions
    • Ability to work with diverse groups
    • Ability to ethically handle confidential information
    • Competent in using basic technology (e.g. computers, social media, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, etc.)
    • Ability to assist people in a friendly and welcoming manner
    • Willingness to learn and support the mission and growth of the Student Success Center
    • Working knowledge of campus resources
Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with assisting with planning and implementing programs
  • Experience with student outreach efforts (e.g. social media, tabling, community, etc.)
  • Experience with planning and implementing programs, events, activities, etc.
