Summary

The Chief Financial Officer Organization (CFOO) provides the FDIC with accounting, financial, and employee services, as well as management of internal controls and operational risks. As professionals, who provide support and service to our co-workers and clients, we are dedicated to the highest level of quality, accuracy, timely delivery and reliability in all our products. This position is established for providing developmental work experience to students under the Pathways Program.

Clarification from the agency

All U.S. citizens who are accepted for enrollment or are currently enrolled in a degree-seeking (diploma, 1 year certificate, etc.) in a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis with an anticipated graduation date AFTER May 1, 2026; with a preferred major in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, information systems (and related courses in IT), management, or marketing; have at least a cumulative (overall) 3.0 GPA; and good academic standing.

Duties

  • Communicates and interacts with other internal and external organizations.
  • Reviews and edits reports, spreadsheets and documents.
  • Researches information and prepares communications in connection with Division requests.
  • Assists with developing new or modified work methods, processes and procedures.
  • Assists with projects that require financial analysis.
  • Assists with deposit reporting compliance and data management.
  • Supports internal controls such as business process mapping and internal control audits.
  • Assists with monitoring accounting standards and guidelines.

After successful completion of the program requirements and based on FDIC's needs, the selectees may be non-competitively converted to a Term or Permanent position based upon an evaluation of performance, completion of at least 480 hours of work experience acquired through the Internship Program. However, service in the FDIC Pathways Internship Program confers no right to further employment in the competitive or excepted service.

Qualifications

You must meet the eligibility and qualifications by the closing date of the announcement.

To be found eligible for this program, applicants must: (1) be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a degree seeking program at a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis; (2) have a minimum cumulative (overall) GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0; and (3) be in good academic standing. Education requirements are established by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and must be met by close of announcement. Below are the requirements by grade:

To qualify:

CG-04 level - Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree; OR have 1 year of general experience to include performing basic functions in the fields of accounting, budgeting, financial system management and development, and/or general business management support functions or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled; OR have a combination of education and experience: equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.

Additional information

Interns will be offered a salary at the base pay for the CG-04 - $44,436.
