Twisted Pixel Games is seeking a talented and experienced designer to help define and drive the gameplay experiences of current and future projects, primarily in the VR space. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a team of designers, defining core gameplay elements, and pushing the quality of the gameplay experience through pre-production to ship.

Studio Design Manager, Twisted Pixel Games Responsibilities


  • Work with creative leads to define and drive implementation of all systems within the game.

  • Collaborate with creative leads to maintain a consistent vision for the gameplay

  • Manage a team of designers across several design disciplines including level design, combat and moment to moment gameplay

  • Facilitate communication and coordination between relevant departments to ensure execution of overall creative vision

  • Partner with Production to define scope, timelines and workflows

  • Contribute directly to the game through implementation, iteration and polish of gameplay within the game engine


Minimum Qualifications


  • Experience on a shipped game project at a Lead/Director level

  • Well-versed in all aspects of game design and development, including control mechanics, combat/weapons, AI behaviors, skills/progression and story

  • Experience with workflows and best practices for modern engines (Unreal/Unity)

  • Demonstrated experience to be a team player with the experience to collaborate across disciplines and communicate effectively

  • Proven game design sensibilities, including an effective grasp of timing and instincts of what feels right

  • Proven understanding of the game-play systems and mechanics, experience to pro/con design decisions and the ramifications they will have on the overall experience

  • Experience to self-critique and accept outside critique

  • Experience to be in the VR headset for multiple hours a day in a fast paced app/game

  • Possess a proven interest for games and an interest in VR


Preferred Qualifications


  • 6+ years of experience contributing to games in a console / PC / VR space

  • Scripting or programming experience (Blueprint, Lua, C++/C#, etc.)

  • Experience developing for VR products.
