Timken Power Systems, Philadelphia Gear brand, is seeking a Submarine Propulsion Specialistto provide dedicated project management and technical direction for the establishment of a manufacturing and integrated test facility, initially for prototype propulsion equipment, and subsequently for production propulsion equipment. The Submarine Propulsion Specialist will ensure the successful manufacturing, assembly, alignment, testing, customer relationship management, and project management for a new-start propulsion equipment project.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Manage Philadelphia Gear (PG) establishment of a technically compliant and efficient new manufacturing and test facility for submarine propulsion equipment, interfacing with Navy and Shipyard customer representatives on a very frequent basis.
  • Develop, execute, and revise as necessary an integrated master schedule to establish PG's new manufacturing and test facility.
  • Assistin development and execution of the test plan for submarine propulsion equipment at the new manufacturing and test facility.
  • Manage supplierrelationships on a continuous basis, in order to develop and deliver an integrated submarine main propulsion unit (MPU) including steam turbines, main reduction gears, controls, and auxiliary & related equipment.
  • Manage the ongoing manufacturing and test of submarine propulsion equipment at the new facility, should the program enter future developmental phases or full rate production.
  • Oversee storage, preparation for shipment, and readiness for installation of submarine propulsion equipment, should the program enter full rate production.
  • Provide technical insight regarding the applicable requirement and specifications for submarine propulsion equipment
  • Provide feedback to Engineering & Manufacturing teams to maximize submarine propulsion equipment quality, reliability, supportability, and technical compliance.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Technical field required,Engineering degree preferred.
  • Mininumum 5years experience with submarine propulsion equipment, 7 years preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a U.S. Government Personnel Security Clearance (PCL) at the appropriate level.
  • Strong computer skills, primary focus on MS Outlook, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • High Degree of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Exhibit honesty and integrity in all aspects of work.
