Job Summary

The Special Education Services Division is currently seeking Substitute Teachers for the 2023/2024 school year. This position provides instruction to special education students in functional, academic, language, and specialized subject areas related to the student's level of achievement. Our Substitute Teachers prepare instructional materials and equipment for use in the classroom, as well as accompany and monitor students on community-based outings or field trips. Substitute Teachers should have knowledge of Individual Specialized Health Care Plans, Individual Education Plans, instructional and behavioral techniques, and the devices used for Alternative Assistive Technology for students who require AT or AAC support.

Education and Experience: • Qualified applicants must hold a bachelor's degree and have met the basic skills requirement and have any combination of education, training, and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities. Licenses, Certificates, and Special Requirements: • Qualified applicants must hold a valid California teaching credential based on completion of a bachelor's degree and the basic skills requirement OR • Hold an Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit. The basic skills requirement can be met through one of the options listed on Basic Skills Requirement Form CL-667 on the Commission on Teacher Credentialing website www.ctc.ca.gov. Long-term assignments require a valid California teaching credential. There are supplemental questions in the application. Please note that the EdJoin system will time-out after a 20-minute period of perceived inactivity. To assist you in the preparation of your application, the supplemental questions are listed here.
