Position Overview
RGA seeks a Corporate Communications/Public Relations intern who is a creative thinker with excellent communication skills and a strong desire to contribute to the team. This position will work closely with the Director of Public Relations and the wider Corporate Communications department to assist with a variety of projects, including communications planning, research and benchmarking, media relations, as well as social media, thought leadership, and internal communications content development.

This position will work closely with the Director of Public Relations and the wider Corporate Communications department to assist with a variety of projects, including communications planning, research and benchmarking, media relations, as well as social media, thought leadership, and internal communications content development.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research, monitor, and analyze media coverage to identify compelling topics and trends for content development, or issues that could impact the company.
- Prepare pitches and media alerts and compile media lists for targeted outreach.
- Use analytics tools to measure effectiveness of campaigns and outreach.
- Create engaging content for press releases, social media, and other RGA-owned channels (RGA external website and intranet).
- Assist in the development of multimedia content, such as videos and graphics.
- Perform administrative duties as needed.
Requirements
- Progress toward completion of bachelor's or master's degree in the field of Public Relations, Journalism & Mass Communications, Communications, or Marketing Communications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with social media platforms.
- Accountability and willingness to take initiative.
- Ability to multitask.
- Ability to balance detail with department goals and objectives.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment and participate in department projects.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with the following platforms and tools is not a requirement but would be nice to have:
- Media monitoring platforms and databases (i.e., Meltwater, Cision, or Talkwalker)
- Media, social media, and web analytics tools (i.e., Meltwater or Google Analytics)
- SharePoint, Photoshop, or InDesign.
