About the Role

The General Dynamics Land Systems Summer 2025 Internship Program provides an opportunity for students looking to start or continue the transition from academia into industry. Our three-month internship assignments provide compensation based on area of study and class standing, and have the students embedded in key functional areas of our business, getting real-world experience and mentorship from seasoned professionals. As part of your summer experience, you will join our team and use your education, experience, and creativity to make an impact.

The Advanced Embedded Software Intern will assist with developing software for our future products. Join a dynamic group of software and controls engineers responsible for the design, development and support of embedded software solutions for the world's premier land-based combat vehicles.

Responsibilities to Anticipate for this Role
  • Create software designs of software features, functions, and algorithms for multiple electronic controllers.
  • Test the software in combination of virtual and physical environments.
  • Support the development of verification plans and manage their execution including test and production and field site shakedown and verification.
  • Participate in troubleshooting/Root Cause Corrective Action and problem report/test incident resolution for production, development, test, or modification projects.
  • Evaluate new Cyber and C5ISR technologies.
  • Participate in peer reviews.

Qualifications Sought
  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in a STEM degree from 4-year university or college.
  • Attained at least a sophomore status based on university/college's class standing requirements at the start of the internship.
  • Preferred - GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be a U.S. Person (i.e. a lawful permanent resident of the U.S.)
  • Must successfully pass standard pre-employment screens and must provide an official college or university transcript from their school before their first day of employment.
  • Must be able to complete a minimum of a full time, 3-month assignment.
  • Currently has or has the ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Ability to travel (mostly domestic, some international) up to 5%
  • Must satisfy Anthropometric Size Restrictions

Additional Information / Desired Experience
  • Experience working on or leading teams in technical projects
  • Familiarity with various electrical line replaceable units and the development and troubleshooting of electronic hardware
  • Experience / aptitude for embedded systems
  • Experience with software and computer science principles
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project)
