Job Purpose: The Project Engineer Intern is responsible for reviewing, analyzing and resolving daily construction problems and discrepancies onsite. He/she interfaces with the client engineer, owner, subcontractors and vendors for day-to-day activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and update specifications and contract manuals for the project
  • Maintain project drawings and distributes revisions to all parties involved
  • Maintain accurate as-built drawings
  • Prepare any submittals or RFIs
  • Maintain schedule updates based on daily progress
  • Advise Superintendent and Assistant Project Manager/Project Manager on the compliance of the subcontractors and vendors
  • Develop a thorough understanding of and enforce contract requirements
  • Track and input daily quantities into the project tracker
  • Assist in the monthly production reporting.
  • Represent Western Utility at all meetings with sub-contractors
  • Assist in the preparation of estimates and quotations for extra work
  • Assist with bid preparation, subcontractor solicitation and bid evaluation
  • Assist the Project Management with project efficiency

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Must be 18+ years of age
  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university at the time of the internship
  • Engineering, Construction Management or related majors strongly preferred
  • Must have a sophomore, junior or senior class standing
  • Must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0
  • Valid driver's license
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy of information
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments and priorities in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines with efficiency and accuracy
  • Ability to take initiative, work well under pressure, and work independently or under executive direction
