JOB DESCRIPTION:
Professional Day and Orientation: July 1&2, 2024

Program Dates : July 8, 2024 - August 2, 2024

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide instruction for students in the identified mathematics curriculum
  
• Provide differentiation of instructional content based on the needs of individual students
  
• Participate in planning and professional learning before summer school
  
• Collaborate with staff regarding implementation of instruction, use of assessments and assessment results
  
• Development and implementation of differentiated curriculum
  

EXPERIENCE:

• Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds
  
• Experience with personalized learning strategies
  
• Experience and interest in teaching mathematics
  

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Secondary Mathematics Certification through the Virginia Department of Education
  
• Ability to work as part of a team for planning, assessing, and implementing the instructional program
  
• Availability to participate in planning and professional learning before summer school
  
• Ability to implement the summer school mathematics program
  
• Ability to use alternative approaches to instruction in mathematics
  
• Ability to use data to make instructional decisions and meet the individual needs of the students

SALARY:
Summer School Teachers who are APS employees during the year will be paid the hourly rate or $35.52 per hour., whichever is higher. (Please note Salary earned relative to summer school employment will not be included in the employee's creditable compensation amount reported to the Virginia Retirement System (VRS).) Retired APS teachers will be paid $47.73 per hour per APS pay plan. Non-APS licensed summer school teachers will be paid $35.52 per hour. If you resign effective the last day of the school year, you will receive a flat rate of $35.52 per hour for teachers.
