JOB DESCRIPTION:
Professional Day and Orientation: July 1&2, 2024

Program Dates : July 8, 2024 - August 2, 2024

Location : Yorktown High School

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide instruction for students in identified mathematics curriculum
  
• Provide differentiation of content based upon needs of individual students
  
• Participate in planning and professional learning before summer school
  
• Collaborate with staff regarding implementation of instruction, use of assessments and assessment results, and development of differentiated curriculum
  

EXPERIENCE:

• Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds
  
• Experience with personalized learning strategies
  
• Experience and interest in teaching mathematics
  

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Mathematics Certification (Secondary - required) through the Virginia Department of Education
  
• Ability to work with team members for planning, assessing, and implementing instruction
  
• Availability to participate in planning and professional learning before Summer School
  
• Ability to implement the Summer School mathematics program
  
• Ability to use alternative approaches to instruction in mathematics
  
• Ability to use data to make instructional decisions

SALARY:
Summer School Teachers who are APS employees during the year will be paid the hourly rate or $35.52 per hour., whichever is higher. (Please note Salary earned relative to summer school employment will not be included in the employee's creditable compensation amount reported to the Virginia Retirement System (VRS).) Retired APS teachers will be paid $47.73 per hour per APS pay plan. Non-APS licensed summer school teachers will be paid $35.52 per hour.
