PROGRAM DATES (First & Last Day Students): July 8, 2024 - July 31, 2024

EMPLOYEE START/END DATES: July 1, 2024 - August 1, 2024

EMPLOYEE TRAINING : Staff Orientation: July 1 & 2, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

ANTICIPATED DUTY DAYS/HOURS: Monday – Thursday; 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

CONTINGENCIES

All positions are contingent on enrollment of students. It is essential that applicants remain available. We will, however, make earlier commitments as definite positions become evident.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Special Education - Extended School Year is for students who have shown regression over the school break periods and have taken longer than expected to recoup those skills. This program will focus on maintaining students' present levels from June. All students who attend ESY have IEP's.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The classroom teacher performs under supervision of a principal or other designated supervisor and has major responsibility for the instruction and supervision of students. Instruction of students shall include individual skill development, expansion of knowledge, and development of ability to reason. Supervision of students shall include guidance, development and safety. The classroom teacher functions in accordance with the established policies, rules, regulations and the performance standards of the District/State and the performance goals established for the teacher.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide instruction to students at appropriate levels in the subject matter for which the teacher is assigned.
  • Provide instruction, organization, and management in the classroom, which creates an environment conducive to learning.
  • Evaluate the student’s academic progress, maintain appropriate records, prepare reports, and communicate with parents or guardians on the individual student’s progress.
  • May coordinate and lead classified employees who are assigned to assist the teacher.
  • Follow established curriculum programs and able to integrate the Common Core State Standards in the content area teaching.
  • Take proper care of furnishings and materials within the classroom, including instructional resources, technology, and media equipment.
  • Attendance and grades will be posted utilizing the Synergy Student Information System and grade book.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

    Physical Demands: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a school classroom, playground and campus setting; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other classroom, library and business equipment; sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time; kneeling, bending at the waist; lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying school equipment, supplies and materials weighing up to 25 pounds; repetitive hand movement and fine coordination to use a computer keyboard; emotional stability to work effectively under pressure and to keep all aspects of the job under control; hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone; seeing to read, prepare and assure the accuracy of documents.

    LICENSURE/ENDORSEMENT REQUIREMENTS:

    All teachers must be properly licensed by the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission as a Professional Educator and have a Special Education endorsement.

    PAY RATE: Current PPS PAT Educators who hold a regular school year position will be paid their current hourly rate of pay, but not less than the hourly summer school rate.All other hires (including current PAT Educators in a temporary assignment) will be paid$47.25 per hour.
