The Supervisor Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) provides day-to-day oversight of the CDI program and serves as a resource for the CDI team. Oversees compliance with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' (CMS) risk adjustment guidelines as well as American Hospital Association (AHA) Coding Clinic Guidelines and the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) coding and documentation guidelines.
  • Provide daily oversight of Clinical Documentation Improvement Program and Team Members.
  • Oversees compliance activities pertaining to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' (CMS) risk adjustment guidelines as well as American Hospital Association (AHA) Coding Clinic Guidelines and the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) coding and documentation guidelines.
  • Proficient in the delivery of the Clinical Documentation Improvement processes & demonstrates effective leadership skills.
  • Acts as a liaison with clinicians regarding complex Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) issues; facilitates the collaboration w/ multidisciplinary teams for comprehensive documentation to reflect clinical treatment; diagnoses; accurate severity of illness & risk of mortality.
  • Proficient in the analysis of Clinical Documentation System(s) reports.
  • Provide education to internal customers related to compliant documentation responsibilities; coding & reimbursement issues; & training; performs inpatient chart audits as needed.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Position Compensation Range: $79,497.60 - $127,192.00 Annual

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's Degree Required.

Experience: 3 years CDI specialist or auditing experience with a minimum of 2 years supervising coding nursing or CDI staff.

Licensure: Clinical Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) Certified Documentation Improvement Specialist (CDIS) Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) or Certified Coding Specialist CCS Preferred. Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia preferred.
