Summary:
Provides a key role in facilitating the long-term success of the clinical documentation improvement (CDI) program with the day-to-day oversight of the CDI workflows. Supervises the CDI team to ensure the medical record contains clear, consistent, and accurate clinical documentation that supports the coding process in attaining appropriate DRG assignments reflecting the patient's severity of illness and risk of mortality. Supports ongoing communication and education on documentation opportunities to physicians, residents, AHPs, and hospital staff. The CDI Supervisor will perform concurrent and retrospective medical record reviews to ensure that case mix index, severity of illness, and risk of mortality is optimized for maximum reimbursement and risk adjustment opportunities. Is also responsible for data collection, entry, and reporting as needed.

Education:

Completion of a nursing program from an accredited school of nursing, or completion of an accredited Coding Specialist program or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Program or completion of a foreign medical degree program (FMG).

Experience:
Essential:
*5 years related Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) experience required.

Credentials:

State of Florida Registered Nurse (RN) or State of Florida Physician Assistant (PA) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or if a Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG) does not need ECFMG.
