JOB PURPOSE:
Providing leadership and oversee daily operations of the Health Information Management (HIM) functions for Piedmont Healthcare. HIM functions include working with both internal and external departments/agencies and management of department services which include document scanning, record completion, transcription, provider suspension, birth certificate processing, release of information and record storage and retrieval. Supervises, monitors, coaches, and develops HIM Associates. The supervisor reports to the Director or Manager of Health Information Management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Oversee day-to-day operations of the HIM staff and all activities related to HIM services.
2. Work with various hospital staff to ensure that HIM services are provided timely and accurately.
3. Identify and communicate issues, backlogs, or opportunities that will directly impact customer satisfaction or operational efficiency to management; assist in developing solutions when appropriate.
4. Ensure HIM services comply with policies, processes, and quality assurance programs.
5. Assist the HIM Operations Manager/Director in communicating with departments, onsite employees and other stakeholders.
6. Monitor and strive to continually improve the efficiency of HIM services.
7. Lead, oversee, and manage the performance of the team as it relates departmental productivity and quality assurance goals/targets.
8. Develop and maintain super user capabilities in Epic applications and all other related information systems, tools, technologies, and processes; assist other employees as needed to ensure all tools are fully utilized to create an efficient and effective department.
9. Create a work environment for employees through team building, coaching, constructive feedback, work delegation, personal example and goal setting that encourages creativity, open dialogue on work issues, professional growth, and a consistent, high level of performance; encourage and support employee decision-making within his or her scope of responsibilities.
10. Work with the Training and Education department to develop and deploy training for new
employees and provide ongoing training as needed.
11. Under the direction of the HIM Operations Manager develop and revise department policies and procedures as required.
12. Complete annual performance reviews for employees and provide timely feedback to employees and address performance/quality and training issues as appropriate.
13. Deliver positive patient experience.
14. Adhere to Piedmont organizational policies and procedures for relevant location and job scope.
15. Perform any additional assignments as directed.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
High School diploma or GED.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
At least three (3) previous years of related Revenue Cycle experience within Health Information Management or Revenue Cycle Services.

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
N/A

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates (or bachelors) degree preferred. At least five (5) years previous related Revenue Cycle experience, preferably within Health Information Management preferred. At least two (2) years of supervisory experience preferred. Previous Epic Experience.
