JOB SUMMARY:

Supervises the day-day monitoring, treatment and maintenance of various water bodies, fountains, attraction ride water across property. Conducts water chemistry evaluations, management of chemical inventories, servicing motors, pumps, valves, filters, and electronic sensing, recording and control equipment. Manages preventative maintenance for all water related equipment. Supervises aquatic weed pesticide application and management throughout property and offsite, stormwater conveyance cleaning and calibrating fixed and portable measurement instruments as needed. Facilitates the hiring, training and scheduling of team members for work areas. Ensures water chemistry complies with federal, state and local regulations and permits. Schedules and facilitates all water sampling for ponds, fountains, attraction ride water and wastewater lift stations as required. Manages regulated waste operations, storage and shipments

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervises water quality department daily startup, inspections and chemical control procedures to include scheduling of routine and preventative maintenance, inspections of water quality equipment rooms, laboratory and maintenance areas. Review of area checklists and water and wastewater data from measuring instruments. Responds to resolve interruptions in storm water service and changing chemical, biological and physical conditions of water bodies and water FX ensuring acceptable water quality using chemicals, algaecides, biological controls, physical controls and mechanical apparatus. Ensuring stormwater conveyance systems
    are cleaned as required to prevent area flooding.
  • Plans and schedules work areas, which includes managing work orders as well as parts procurement.
  • Interfaces with various departments on a daily basis to ensure delivery of quality product and service. Provide guidance to departments that generate regulated waste.
  • Participates in budgetary responsibilities for water quality. Establishes and executes a P.M. program to keep equipment calibrated and operational.
  • Trains, develops and schedules all water quality team members by administering Universal Orlando policies and procedures, to include disciplinary action, counseling, attendance tracking, hiring and performing staffing selections.
  • Maintains records of all routine water chemistry, biological monitoring data, and regulatory water quality reports. Communicates data analysis to department Senior manager.
  • Assists as needed with the overall management of regulated waste generation and disposal across property including hazardous, biomedical, petroleum, and universal waste. Ensure storage areas are in compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
  • High school degree or GED or Technical school is required.
  • Associate degree (AA) or Bachelor's degree is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
  • 5+ years of technical and trade experience in either electrical controls, plumbing or mechanical fields in an industrial setting
  • OR direct supervision of water-park maintenance operations
  • OR direct supervision of waste-water plant maintenance operations is required.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • Must acquire an Aquatic Facility Operator certification or equivalent within 6 months of hire.
  • Must pass Florida General Application of Pesticides Core testing and the Florida Aquatic Pesticide testing and acquire Florida Aquatic Pest Control license within 6 months of hire.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • Job requires active coordination with multiple departments/clients across property.
  • Must be able to analyze and assess labor and equipment required to complete scheduled project work.
  • Project work may consist of but is not limited to; replacing large water treatment equipment components, assisting various departments with stormwater or attraction water testing, draining, cleaning or filling and supporting production shoots associated with water bodies or features.
