We are looking for a DFx Engineer as the expert on design rules and manufacturing processes, sets theenvironment company wide and performs Design For Manufacturing analysis andstudies to enable the manufacturability and ensure the product quality of the Teslaelectronics product portfolio.


Responsibilities
  • Deploy, implement and maintain Design for Manufacturing (DFx) system,including design rules for all Tesla products
  • As the Design For Manufacturing Expert, DFM Engineer will provide frequentfeedback and mentorship to Design Engineers on production processes, printedcircuit board technologies and design rules and process requirements
  • Close interaction with PCB layout designers, EE Design Engineers to collaborateon creation of design rules and have dynamic bi-directional feedback
  • Assess, manage and develop PCB Suppliers and PCBA Contract Manufacturerson matters related to production process efficiency and Quality
  • Participate on cost reduction initiatives by exploring and suggesting process,materials, design and new technologies


Requirements
  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience performing DFM/DFA/DFT for PCB and PCBA
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of industry specifications and standardsespecially IPC and JEDEC
  • Experience in deployment and maintenance of DFM Software Applications likeValor, Vayo or similar
  • Experience with CAD Librarian activities such as part generation from drawingsand footprint and pad optimizations
  • Subject Matter Expert on solder paste, stencil design, and stencil apertures• PCB panel design, and panel material vs cost vs capacity optimization
  • Strong knowledge and understanding on design rules regarding Rigid, Flex, andHDI PCB manufacturing process, SMT, THT, Reflow, Conformal Coating,Underfill, Washing, Press Fit, Pin Insertion, and depanelization
  • International travel is required to engage with manufacturing partners, sometimeson short notice• Excellent spoken and written English

    • Expected Compensation

      $80,000 - $300,000/annual salary, depending on level + cash and stock awards + benefits

      Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
