SUPPLY CHAIN DIRECTOR
Overview
The Supply Chain Director is a critically important member of the Executive Staff. This role will be responsible for leading all activities related to the Supply Chain of the Defense & Industry business. The following functions report to this position:
  • Quoting to order entry, S&OP, planning, purchasing, scheduling, and planning for shipment.
  • Utilizing Infor XA ERP/MRP supplying products to a diverse mix of Markets (Defense, Industrial, Railroad, Vehicles, and Trucks).
  • Automated shop floor transactions using Shor Floor+ system.

Given the above, success in this position will require someone with strong experience in, but not be limited to, material and resource planning and scheduling, inventory optimization, Kanban signaling, procurement alignment and expediting, order entry and new business quoting, and distribution planning orchestrated to achieve schedule conformance and on time delivery to our customers.

Position responsibilities include:
  • Oversees and directs, via direct reports
    • Customer Service experienced by business's customers (Order Entry, Quoting, OTD, Order status, company response to customer questions)
    • Plans production and shipping
    • Establishes production schedules (TOC principle driven)
    • Monitors materials inventories, tracks the progress of production, and reviews factors that affect schedules
    • Establish MRP schedule t o meet build and procurement optimization, stock replenishment, and on-time delivery to customers.
    • Identify and deploy tools and process improvements for planning and execution of material delivery
    • Plan optimal inventory levels and coordinate actions to address excess and obsolete
    • Improving the ability to forecast business revenue and gross margin
  • Primary responsibilities
    • In collaboration with Hopkinton and Ithaca Plant Managers, establishing APU structured Process Maps
    • Designing and implementing Shop Floor layouts to facilitate FLOW
    • Inspiring Culture Change to drive movement of product through the Production Processes and reducing WIP
    • Putting in place appropriate "PULL mechanisms" upstream of DRUMS and "PUSH mechanisms" downstream of DRUMS
    • Developing VISUAL tools to display Schedule Status on the shop floor
    • Training of shop floor personnel
  • Additional responsibilities
  • As necessary, expedites the completion of work on the shop floor when required to meet Customer Needs or Promise Dates. Defining and facilitating the adoption of new XA to achieve real-time reporting of material transactions on the shop floor.
  • Enhancing our customer's experience. In collaboration with Customer Experience Manager, continually improving the Customer Service experienced by our customers (including quoting).
  • "Engineering" and facilitating the adoption of new XA to achieve order entry and EDI functionality that prevents customers from entering orders in violation of defined lead times & minimum order quantities and agreed-upon pricing.
  • In collaboration with Purchasing Manager, ensuring the business has a robust supplier base able to meet business supply needs and at necessary costs, product quality and delivery performance. Through "win-win" negotiation maintain or improve business cost competitiveness.
  • Ensure and maintain a safe working environment and adhere to all PPE requirements. Contribute to a Safety First Culture by identifying Risky Situations.
  • Ultimately, the primary purpose of this position is to help accelerate the rate at which > 98% On-Time-Delivery performance to Defense & Industry, NA customers is achieved.

Qualifications :
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree (preferably in Engineering or SCM discipline),
  • Greater than five years of manufacturing-related experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in LEAN, FLOW, Shop Floor Management, Scheduling, Planning, ERP/MRP systems, Leading Culture Change, Theory of Constraints, and Supply Chain Management.
  • Aspirations to progress to senior levels of plant management, operational leadership (functional or business.)
  • Demonstrated systems thinking problem solver.
  • Subject matter expert in the areas of FLOW, Theory of Constraints, and LEAN and ensuring the real-time reporting of material transactions by shop floor.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must have the capacity for understanding very complex Supply Chain interdependencies while also being able to simplify Supply Chain complexity for broad organizational understanding.
  • Systemic problem solving, and experienced use of prioritizing tools like Pareto, TOC, and 80/20 principle.
