About the Role
The Supply Engineer Engineering Specialist II is a unique position. The position is a blend of understanding technical knowledge (engineering) with an understanding of how procurement functions in the supply chain process. This position will function as an internal change board representative supporting the Gulfstream production procurement organization. The Specialist will servesan advocate to Procurement team in the production process.

Skills Desired
  • Fundamental knowledge of procurement processes and a wide knowledge of varying procured commodities, cost analysis methods, materials management best practices, and aircraft terminology.
  • Technical education, skills and knowledge, especially relating to aircraft manufacture and detail part fabrication, are a plus.
  • The successful candidate will operate, with limited supervision, in a cross-functional environment, and will directly interface with the program office, design engineering, operations engineering, quality, materials, and with the greater procurement organization.
  • Proficient project management skills as well as the ability to negotiate effectively and influence others are also key to being successful in this role.
  • Good business acument with understanding of how procurement functions and teh supply chain proces (purchasing) works with engineering.
Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 5 years in specific technical discipline or 10 years broad engineering experience in several technical disciplines with Bachelors. Experience credit considered for related adv degrees limited to 2 yrs for Masters, 4 yrs for PhD in fields applicable to this job.

Position Purpose:
Work independently and as a team member with limited oversite, to prepare, execute and evaluate analyses for problem solving and planning improvements for manufacturing issues within the supply-chain, supporting both production and post-production. This includes, but is not limited to, the development and improvements of production methods and procedures related to tooling, layout, production planning & flow, assembly method and material processes & fabrication within the supply-chain. Guide and influence supplier and internal cross functional teams with technical problem solving and continuous improvement activities.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
  1. With a focus on supplier performance and the need to conduct inter-organization and supplier interaction; contribute to the planning, development and coordination of supply-chain manufacturing related issue resolution projects. These shall include the resolution of critical issues and project coordination.
  2. Must be able to perform in project leadership or cross functional team participant roles and drive activities; provide technical coaching to suppliers and other group members.
  3. Need to provide clear and concise verbal and written technical communication; build relationships with other functional groups to accomplish team goals; regularly prepare executive summaries providing project status and results.
  4. Through the utilization of existing problem-solving skills, coach others to develop similar skills in an effort to strengthen the organization and supply-chain. Execute methods that identify root causes and develop the corrective/preventative action plans.
  5. Provide technical guidance to suppliers and drive actions that address improvement opportunities; ensuring, through validation, implementation of actions showing measured improvement.
  6. Provide on-site technical support to the supply-chain, Engineering, Operations and Logistics.

  1. Maintain legacy, current and advanced knowledge in the field of manufacturing processes and engineering techniques, especially related to aerospace. .
  2. Drive quality practices both within the supply-chain and the Company. .
