This National Guard position is for an SUPV IT SPECIALIST (CUSTSPT/INFOSEC)-Title 5, Position Description Number T5821300 and is part of the WI 115 FW, Wisconsin Air National Guard.

Duties

  • Responsible for direct supervision of information technology personnel.
  • Assigns, directs, and reviews work, determines work methods and procedures, establishes standards of performance, and makes formal appraisals of subordinates' work.
  • Perform Risk Management Framework (RMF) tasks for all applicable networks and systems.
  • Provides oversight for the Communications Security (COMSEC) account for the Wing and subordinate units.
  • Provides general guidance and broadly defined objectives, as to scope and priorities of projects and requirements in the branch.
  • Coordinates with higher headquarters (HHQ) elements, Program Management Offices, Specific System/Hardware Support Elements, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) vendors and vendor contracted support facilities for issue resolution.
  • Provides input to and coordinate on relevant support agreements that require section support to make sure they correctly identify products and services needed.

  • This position conducts information assurance functions. The incumbent shall comply with the requirements of the certification program and will be required to obtain and maintain certification. Certification requirements are outlined in DoD Instruction 8570.01-M2. Work may require access to classified information. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
  • The incumbent of this position description must have, at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.5.The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • May be subject to furlough actions.
  • Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate Tricare eligibility

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the GS-2210-12 level, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade that demonstrates the ability to analyze, develop, and recommend standards concerning information assurance, documentation, techniques, and integration associated with information assurance and accreditation. Candidate can follow security policies, work with other agencies to develop procedures to protect information in the networks. Candidate has experience being able to identify and report violations of system security. Experience on designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining secure systems and services. Candidate has knowledge of the concepts, principles, methods, and practices in information systems to design, develop, implement, and maintain secure systems. Experience assessing effectiveness of current systems security and services; evaluating feasibility of new systems security and services; and able to provide advice and guidance on complex issues. Experience with oversight for the Communication Security (COMSEC) preferred but not required. Experience in managing the function of work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
