Job Summary:

The surgical abstractor is responsible for obtaining surgical reports, tests, & evaluations and reviewing them for compliance and coding by the most recent guidelines. The surgical abstractor will summarize results to provide pertinent details to doctors and other medical professionals.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

Highschool Diploma/GED - Required.

AAPC or AHIMA - Required.

Work Experience and Additional Information:

• Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding systems - Required.
• Knowledge of commercial insurance, and other third-party payor regulations - Required.
