JOB DESCRIPTION: Registered Nurse- Circulator

(1) Full time position - 40 hours/week, (1) Part time/benefit eligible position - 30 hours/week

Job Summary: The Circulating RN works in collaboration with the surgeon, CRNA, and entire OR staff to maintain a safe surgical environment for the patient.

Job Requirements Include:

1. Follow established protocols for narcotic and other medication administration ensuring the five rights of medication administration are met.

2. Communicate pertinent information related to patients' condition to inform doctors, additional staff nurses and/or ancillary departments of patients' needs and/or plan of care.

3. Document concerns, findings, and actions, implementing appropriate care plans related to patients' diagnosis for continuity of care.

4. Assess patients' condition, continuously monitoring changes in status, physical findings, vital signs, coping skills ensuring appropriate care is given related to patients' needs.

5. Other duties as assigned.

6. Coordinate the surgical patients care in the perioperative setting.

7. Establishes an environment of safety for the surgical patient for freedom from acquired physical injury.

8. Assess, diagnose, implement, and evaluate treatments and procedures that contribute to the physiological stability of the surgical patient.

9. Demonstrate knowledge about the psychological, sociologic, and spiritual responses of patients and their families to the operative or other invasive procedure.

10. Completes adequate documentation perioperatively as required.

11. Assists perioperative staff, including surgeons, anesthesia providers, RN's and surgical technologists, in providing quality care to the surgical patient.

12. Takes call on rotation with other staff during OR non-scheduled hours as appropriate.

13. Maintains highest standard of sterile technique

Requirements:

• Associate degree of nursing or equivalent formal training program, preferred bachelor's degree in nursing.

• 6 months practicing as an RN in an acute hospital setting, preferred one to two years' operating room experience preferred.

• Licensed in the State of Kansas as a Registered Nurse

• ACLS & PALS verified within 6 months of hiring.

• CNOR preferred

Skills:

• Knowledge of surgical procedures

• Strong communication skills

• Good organizational and time management skills

• Computer skills related to Word, Outlook, and Windows.
