Schedule: Full-time

Shift: Day (4 - 10hr shifts or 5 - 8hr. shifts) plus call requirements

The role you'll contribute:

Assists in smooth daily operations of the operating rooms by performing room preparation and assembling needed supplies and instruments for specialty service lines. Coordinates functions and activities of all surgical specialties - maintaining appropriate supplies, instruments, vendor needs and physician preferences. Covers specialty service in absence of the Charge Nurse. Maintains clinical expertise and assists in training staff and orienting new hires in all aspects of the specialties - procedures, equipment, advances in technology and advances in clinical practice. Participates in strategic planning and related implementation activities. In the scrub role, performs all functions of the role in a manner that is consistent with a positive role model and in line with best practice.

  • Serves as patient advocate and provides patient care when required.
  • Ensures compliance, provides coaching, and monitors staff to ensure they are adhering to CMS and Joint Commission standards to include core measures, AORN, AST, and AAMI standards.

  • Facilitates smooth and efficient running of surgical schedule as related to surgical techs.
  • Consistently validates that work processes and priorities are in alignment with Department Strategic Plan.
  • Innovative with staffing assignments without compromising patient safety.
  • Encourages associates to challenge work processes to improve unit effectiveness. Recognizes staff when effective change has occurred.
  • Works collaboratively with Nurse Manager to development, coordinate and approve schedules and time off requests.
  • Works with leadership to ensure assignments are based on patient needs, associate skills/abilities, department resources and operational requirements.
  • Consistently and fairly counsels and coaches staff related to accountability, performance and appropriately documents issues and concerns.


Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:

Required:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of an approved course for Surgical Technologist.
  • 2 years of experience in operating room.
  • BLS from American Heart Association
  • Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado. A person performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another clinical Colorado license, certification, or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech.
  • Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
