Certified Surgical Technician Training Program Details

Jefferson Health Care is developing an educational training program for Surgical Technicians in partnership with MedCerts, Inc. We are recruiting experienced health care staff such as CNA, MA, LPN, EMT I / II, or SPD Tech that are looking for a Full-Time/Fully Benefited position to complete a clinical training program that will secure a Surgical Technician Certification and become members of our surgical service teams across the Jefferson Health Care sites.

Program length: 6 months

Program Includes 8-week Course Work, 10-week Didactic training, 125 Case Load Externship, Final Exam

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Nurse Manager, under the direction of the Coordinators or designee, the Surgical Technician functions as a member of the intraoperative healthcare team. He/she performs specific tasks to assist the surgical team and is competent to provide care for infants to geriatric patient population.

• Meets all standards of the Patient Satisfaction Initiative Criteria in order to make Abington - Jefferson Health (AJH) the hospital of choice for Patients and Employees.

• Participates in the intraoperative care of the patient to assist the surgical team.

• Helps maintain a safe, neat and clean environment to facilitate safe and effective patient care in the Operating Room.

• Provides assistance in maintaining supplies and equipment available to ensure efficient unit operations.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Training: Graduate of an Accredited Operating Room Technician School

Experience: One year previous O.R. experience preferred

License, Certification & Registration:

• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.

• Certification as an Operating Room Technician

Conditions of Employment

Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.

Conditions of Employment

Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jefferson's clinical entities or at the University. If you are not currently vaccinated you will be required to receive the vaccination prior to hire date if you are offered employment, unless you request and receive an approved medical or religious exemption from Jefferson.
