Job Description Summary
The Endoscopy Surgical Technologist performs routine care/duties within the limits of training in caring for the patient within the endoscopy environment. The care is rendered under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Performs other duties related to the work described herein. Care is provided in collaboration with Anesthesia, surgeons, gastroenterologists, pulmonologists, and/or other staff members. The Endoscopy ST effectively functions in the Endoscopy environment, demonstrating knowledge and ability in performing the role of assisting on all assigned endoscopy cases. Uses the principles of asepsis to assist the surgeon/physician in the maintenance of the sterile/work field, providing for optimal patient care int he Endoscopy department. Cares for endoscopy patients of various ages and all levels of acuity.

Additional Job Description

Education: Completion of an approved surgical tedhnologist program required. If the graduation was prior to 2008, demonstration of continual employment in the field is required.

Experience: ST experience preferred. Previous endoscopy experience preferred.

Licenses/Certificates: Current BLS certification. Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist with AST preferred.
