Job Description Summary
The Surgical Technologist extern - reports to the nurse manager. Under direct supervision of the Certified Surgical Tech/Scrub nurse the extern functions as a member of the operating room team to prepare sterile supplies and equipment used in the surgical procedures and perform appropriate room duties involved with direct patient care with adherence to established procedural guideline. This position demonstrates knowledge and skills required to provide care and service appropriate to the level of development of patients, with consideration of the needs of patients' families.

Hours per week: 10, 10-hour shifts from 6:30 am - 5:00 pm

Job summary: The Surgical Technologist extern - reports to the nurse manager. Education/Experience: Highschool diploma. Currently enrolled in a Surgical Tech program.

Required License Certification and Registration: A current CPR card is required; either an American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers card or an American Red Cross Professional Rescuer card required.

Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction.
