System Director, Corporate Tax

Summary:
The System Director of Corporate Tax serves as a key member of the Finance Administration department of Summa Health under the direction of the Vice President Financial Reporting & Controller, along with input from the Senior Vice President CFO and provides leadership for the coordination and the completion of all Summa Health tax returns, for developing an annual tax compliance plan, and coordination with internal and external resources to complete. This position is a key contributor to developing and communicating Summa Health's overall tax strategy to minimize risk and liability.

Management responsibilities include: strategic support, internal control and compliance, planning, reporting evaluating, organizing, directing the Corporate Tax department activities and ensure processing payments to tax authorities.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Formal Education Required:
a. Bachelor's Degree required with specialization in Tax, Accounting or Finance preferred
b. Master's of Tax, Law Degree, MBA or Certified Public Accountant preferred

2. Experience & Training Required:
a. Five plus years of public or private accounting experience with a heavy emphasis on tax issues. Including income tax provisions, budget development, and corporate insurance.
b. Experience with both for-profit and non-profit tax related issues and tax filings
c. Strong knowledge of US tax regulations.
d. Ability to independently research and simplify complex situations. Ability to objectively incorporate feedback from others.
e. IRC 501(c)(3) hospital tax experience required;
f. Three years of supervisory/team leadership experience

3. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with patients/customers with the understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity
b. Ability to work cooperatively with management personnel in an advisory capacity
c. Ability to maintain high degree of confidentiality regarding tax, financial and payroll matters
d. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, leadership and interpersonal skills
e. Position requires the ability to work within a team environment and support team goals
f. Knowledge and experience in computerized financial systems and software including Excel, Microsoft Word and financial software programs, including a thorough understanding of data interfaces between the Patient Financial Billing system, and Payroll systems, General Ledger system and Financial Statements.

4. Level of Physical Demands:
a. Sedentary: Exerts up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently

The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials.
