Description

Works collaboratively with various offices throughout the University system to ensure each institution's compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and associated regulations.
  1. Establishes, coordinates and oversees the Clery Act compliance program for the UH System campuses (UH, UHD, UHCL, UHV, UHSL/CL) including compliance with SAM
  2. F. Other duties include training key institutional stakeholders on Clery Act requirements, developing and implementing Clery Act required policies, procedures, programs, and activities as well as staying abreast on pending/final changes and other laws or regulations affecting Clery Act provisions.
  3. Prepares, reviews, publishes, and may distribute reports that include but are not limited to the Annual Security Report, Fire Safety Report, and the Campus annual security report for prospective students and employees while ensuring compliance with the daily crime and fire log requirements.
  4. Gathers crime and disciplinary referral data from various internal and external sources, such as the Dean of Student's Office, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), the Student Health Center, Equal Opportunity Services, local law enforcement agencies and maintains accurate records on security awareness and crime prevention programs/presentations. This includes sending annual requests for crime statistics to all Campus Security Authorities at the end of each calendar year.
  5. Reviews and approves each Campus' annual security report prior to publication to ensure compliance with the Clery Act and submits annual crime statistics to the Department of Education as required.
  6. Works with the appropriate University Departments to identify and maintain all Campus Security Authorities for the institution for each academic year as well as providing, facilitating, and/or managing the training of Campus Security Authorities.
  7. Ensures compliance with the Emergency Notification requirements of the Clery Act through collaboration with the office of Emergency Management to ensure that at least one test of emergency response procedures is conducted each year. This includes all required components to meet the HEOA definition of a test.
  8. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Qualifications

Bachelors and 5 years experience

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.
