Job Duties

Virginia Tax is seeking a Systems Security Engineer/Administrator to help administer and support our security operations.

Security is a top priority of Virginia Tax. Our information is highly sensitive and critical to daily operations of the Agency and the Commonwealth. This position will play a critical role in ensuring our infrastructure, applications, and data are secure.

You will evaluate, recommend, plan and implement IT security hardware and software used throughout agency systems. Your role will be pivotal in assisting with audit remediation and you will assist with software deployments and recommend changes that will improve our security stance.

This critical position will have responsibility for a wide range of activities to enhance our security footprint including upgrading appliances and security software and controls; managing Sec-Ops backups and data retention; reviewing system logs to ensure systems are operating per design; and creating scripts and workflows to aid with Sec-Ops and general automation.

The position is required to be on site in the Richmond office 3 days a week with 2 days of telework.

The anticipated hiring salary is commensurate with experience up to $101,000.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of information cybersecurity principles.

Knowledge of access control, IP addressing and routing, firewalls, managing Windows and Linux, server host security, and software installations.

Knowledge of reading and writing the following languages: SQL, PowerShell, and Bash

Additional Considerations

Industry certifications in information security.

Knowledge and use of CyberArk administration.

Knowledge of Security Operations.

Knowledge and administration with one or more of the following: Splunk, Rapid 7, and Tenable.

Knowledge of and use of cloud integration with on-prem systems.
