Support the tax group with the administrative, accounting, and tax compliance responsibilities associated with the tax function for the Association and related entities. Demonstrate attention to detail in helping the team ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local tax rules and regulations. The position requires significant team collaboration and communication across various functional groups and departments. The individual that will excel in this role will have strong interpersonal skills as well as a basic understanding of tax and accounting principles.

RESPONSIBILITIES (Specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):

Assist in the preparation and filing of all federal and state sales and use tax, property tax, income tax, and not-for-profit tax returns (e.g., 990, 990-T).

Perform calculations based on financials to determine payments on extensions, estimated tax payments, and other requirements as necessary.

Utilize tax calendar for tracking due dates of tax filings, and demonstrate agility in moving among different tasks throughout the cycle.

Research local, state, and federal tax issues using industry software.

Assist with gathering information and creating or maintaining workpapers to support various ad-hoc projects including research, audit/notice response and planning.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field.

0-2 years of tax or relevant experience in public accounting or multi-functional corporate tax setting.

Prior experience using tax preparation and research applications is a plus.

Prior exposure to the non-profit industry is a plus.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Must have a knowledge and basic understanding of accounting principles, procedures and systems, and tax form preparation. General familiarity with the IRC, Regs, Publications, and other primary and secondary tax sources. Knowledge of federal and state income tax, sales tax, property tax, and GAAP as it relates to tax.. Knowledge of Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis in Excel.

Ability to travel up to 10%.
