Teacher (Career-Tech - Construction Technologies) $5,000 SIGNING BONUS!

Job Duties

• Works under direction & requires considerable knowledge of teacher education in order to instruct inmates in basic fundamentals of constructions trades: drywall, framing, roofing, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and masonry to provide services which implement the DYS Circleville JCF Educational Mission.
• Analyzes records to identify student's immediate and long range needs.
• Utilizes student analysis results and approved courses of study to develop lesson plans for assignments and activities which meet identified student needs or follow prepared lesson plans to provide instruction and training in Career Tech nologies-Construction Trade.
• Conducts on-going assessment of student's progress to update record of student's needs corresponding instructional and training program.
• Counsels each student regarding his academic and behavioral progress. Documents student progress. Forwards student performance reports to appropriate staff for use in planning institutional, transitional and community treatment activities.

DYS Teachers can earn from $60,798 - $103,334 depending on education and experience (includes additional 20% supplement)

• Small class sizes (6-8 students)
• Students are an average of 16-18 years old
• Comprehensive paid training will be provided to the selected candidate
• Intersession leave - 40 days off per year; 186 student days
• Additional personal and sick leave
• No study hall/lunch supervisory responsibilities
• Duties for a Teacher include, but are not limited to:
• Assess educational needs of youth: develop and implement lesson plans to address those needs to include individualized assignments and training;
• Provide instruction with individual assistance;
• Counsel students concerning their performance, behavior and/or personal problems;
• Organize and/or monitor extracurricular activities if assigned.

Qualifications

Current Ohio Department of Education Teacher Certificate appropriate for grade level (9-12) & area of specialization to be assigned; Teacher 1, 71111, must also have baccalaureate degree or less;
