Responsibilities

Kingwood Pines Hospital is a 116 bed facility located in the beautiful residential Kingwood community. We are located about 30 miles northeast of the Houston Medical Center. The hospital provides 24-hour emergency services. We serve children, adolescents, and adults for psychiatric and behavioral health. The hospital also has services in intensive outpatient and partial hospital program services.

Position Summary:

To assist in the direct care and management of children and adolescent students as prescribed by the physician and treatment team; to provide supervision, safety and crisis management for the student population; to complete documentation of student behavior and participation in programming; to adhere to the scheduled activities; role model positive, mature behavior; utilize positive behavioral strategies to minimize student crisis and maximize success. This position is responsible for assisting the classroom teacher in the implementation of the academic program for each student under their care.

Job Responsibilities:

Participating as a team member in the identification of social/behavioral issues.

Assisting other professionals with student crisis intervention.

Assists in providing safe delivery of care to meet the goals and objectives of each student's plan of care.

Collaborates with other disciplines to ensure follow through on all aspects of students' treatment program.

Recognizes and reports to appropriate person physical/medical/behavioral status of the student in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Good verbal and written skills, ability to rotate shifts and units as necessary, and ability to maintain student's confidentiality. Knowledge of principles of psychology and child growth and development are useful. Limit-setting, responding to children and adolescents in a caring, mature manner, while maintaining professional boundaries necessary. Must consistently exhibit mental and emotional ability to understand and perform the essential functions of the job.

Education:

High School diploma/GED required
