Position Summary:

The Childhood League Center is a fully inclusive, non-profit early childhood center with a long history in the Columbus, Ohio community and a 5-star Step Up to Quality rating. Our preschool program serves children aged 2-6 with and without special needs, and our team-focused, transdisciplinary approach supports optimal growth for children, their families, and our team members. Job Responsibilities:
• Assists teaching team in an inclusive classroom with children with and without special needs
• Lead small group experiences
• Provide educational support for all children in classroom: provide guidance, engagement, taking initiative with the children while always anticipating the needs of the classroom - safety, balance of entire group, lead small groups, attend to children's needs
• Actively participate with teaching team in educational planning
• Collaborate and communicate with team members to integrate educational and therapeutic strategies into classroom experience; able to take direction and accept feedback, asking questions and discussing struggles & concerns
• Prepare and adapt materials for use in the classroom
• Help establish and maintain a positive learning environment
• Maintain classroom routines and organization
• Implement and maintain program policies
• Collect data and portfolio development related to assessment, Individual Educational Plan (IEP) progress reports and all goals
• Participate in professional development, including but not limited to: Teaching PLAY, STAR literacy program
• Attend staff meetings, team meetings, parent conferences and other meetings as needed
• Must have flexibility to cover in other classrooms as assigned
• Miscellaneous duties as needed including, but not limited to, duty for lunch/recess/cleaning

Requirements:
• CPL 2 required, with CPL 3 preferred
• CDA or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, with preference of the latter; per ODJFS licensing requirements we require copies of transcripts, licenses, etc.
• One to two years recent experience working in a classroom setting with children with special needs required
• CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain
• Successful completion of a background check (BCII & FBI)

Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to lift, carry, push/pull fifty (50) pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of up to fifty (50) pounds, including lifting children for diaper changes, etc.
• Ability to quickly stoop, squat, run, kneel, crouch, bend, crawl, push, pull or twist, floor play work (physically able to sit for long periods of time on hard floor surfaces and/or limited carpet area)
• Will be required to move/lift/relocate pieces of adaptive equipment
• Must be able to lift physically handicapped and non-ambulatory children

Hourly pay range for this position: $15.25 - $17.11
