Summary

Under the supervision of the principal, or other supervisor, the teacher assistant assists the teacher with the conduct of a class. The assistance takes a variety of forms, such as preparing class materials, correcting and recording assignments, and a wide variety of other services.

5.9 hours per day/174 days per year /Salary Grade 3 $15.95 per hour (2024-25 Support Salary Table)

(Promotions result in a minimum 5% increase for a promotion)

NOTE: THIS IS A TEACHER ASSISTANT POSITION IN THE CHS MINDFUL CENTER. WITH COUNSELORS, TEACHERS, AND ADMINISTRATION THE EMPLOYEE WILL SUPPORT STUDENTS IN LEARNING AND USING MINDFUL, AND SOCIAL STRATEGIES FOR SCHOOL SUCCESS. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE IN TEACHING AND SUPPORTING MINDFULNESS STRATEGIES IS PREFERRED

GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the supervision of the principal, or other supervisor, the teacher assistant assists the teacher with the conduct of a class. The assistance takes a variety of forms, such as preparing class materials, correcting and recording assignments, and a wide variety of other services.

QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:

1. High school graduation or equivalent education and/or experience.

2. The equivalent of two years (48 semester hours) full-time education at an institution of higher education; or an associate's degree; or the ability to pass a Utah State Office of Education approved Para-Professional Test.

3. Interpersonal and communication skills.

4. Secretarial/clerical skills, including ability to operate a computer may be required.
