Job Summary
Primary instructor for all Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) cadets in the District's high schools. Instructs, evaluates, mentors, guides JROTC cadets using the Cadet Command program of instruction and supplemental material in accordance with lesson plans, training schedules, the academic and physical needs of the cadets, and SAI consent and guidance.

What you will do
  • Demonstrates and coaches the Army's seven values -- loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage.
  • Establishes positive personal relationships with cadets in order to assess and adjust for their academic, emotional, physical training, and leadership-learning needs.
  • Clearly conveys course material to cadets. Grades cadets' work and provides academic feedback. Provides a safe and efficient learning environment.
  • Pursues continuing education to maintain knowledge of relevant Army JROTC curriculum.
  • Challenges, motivates, and influences the students of JROTC to develop positive character attributes.
  • Coaches, trains and leads the color guard team, drill team, rifle team, and/or adventure team which adheres to applicable military standards.
  • Assists and advises SAI in administrative matters, i.e. logistics, budgets, and program expenditures. Maintains cadet rosters and cadet electronic personnel records.
  • Adheres to local, state, and federal laws and regulations, as well as the District's policies and procedures.

Education Qualifications
  • Meets current and future education standards required by US Army Cadet Command
  • Associate's Degree Required
Experience Qualifications
  • Highly competitive applicants will be honorably retired senior non-commissioned officers (E8/E9) with documented drill sergeant, Army instructor, combat arms, and large-unit leadership experience Required
Skills and Abilities

Licenses and Certifications
  • Federal certification as a Junior ROTC instructor Required
  • Honorably retired from US Army, E-8 or above, within last three years Required
  • Teaching Certification/License TN JROTC teacher certification Upon Hire Required

Salaries are determined by factors relevant to the position which may include education, experience, and other qualifications. Final compensation decisions are made at the discretion of MNPS in alignment with organizational policies and procedures. The stated salary range for certificated teaching positions is calculated based on 201 days and should be viewed as a reference. All provided salary ranges serve as a general guideline.
