JOB SUMMARY:

To Provide direct, safe and ethical patient care appropriate to the age of patients served in the cardiac catheterization lab. Provide leadership and direction for employees with lesser training.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Operates all imaging equipment including radiographic and fluoroscopic room, C-arm and other equipment associated with cardiac cath lab.

• Completes and properly documents all worked performed and maintains department equipment ready for use.
• Scrubs and assists in all procedures performed in the cath lab.
• Obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of the cardiac cath lab team are met.
• Assists nursing personal with transportation and care of patients.
• Prepping and monitoring a patient during cardiovascular imaging and invasive heart procedures.
• Assisting with the insertion of catheters into the heart.
• Measuring and administering special fluids.
• Reviewing medical history, positioning patients, and cleaning/shaving/numbing testing sites as appropriate.

• Interpreting, describing, and reporting test results; recognizing recording errors and artifacts and reacting appropriately.

• Assisting physicians during non-evasive cardiological procedures by monitoring the patients' heart rates and alerting the physicians to any readings outside normal ranges.

• Maintaining cardiological equipment and supplies with daily cleanings and adjustments.
• Recording supply inventory levels and restocking the supply storeroom accordingly.
• Troubleshooting problems with cardiological equipment and reporting any malfunctions to superiors.
• Proven ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment.
• Solid knowledge of professional medical standards, policies, and procedures as well as federal, state, and local requirements.
• Proven teamwork mentality and ability to collaborate with co-workers.
• Excellent bedside manner and interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and solid problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

Current certification as a Certified Surgical technician preferred.

Current BLS certification required. ACLS preferred.

High School Diploma or GED required.

Minimum (1) year experience in related health care field or in cardiac cath lab required.

Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technicians preferred.

Abilitiy to interface with individuals at all levels.
