JOB SUMMARY:

Supports the Tech I Lead and/or management as a Crew Chief to coordinate activities for technicians in all assigned venues and maintains venue technical show quality by performing the following duties. Assist with the operation and execution of entertainment shows. Leads crew and applies advanced level knowledge in the use of control systems for audio, video, lighting, projection, special effects, and show action equipment.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Acts as Crew Chief leading daily operations of the technical elements as assigned within the venues/events including but not limited to opening and closing, set up and tear down, manually triggering cues, and maintaining show quality. Responsible for successful operation of high-complexity live performances and/or technical presentations and careful execution of show elements/cues to preserve show quality. Assist with other job functions as needed.
  • Assists in assigning work tasks to qualified technicians. Supports the startup and shutdown of work activities and fills in for shows when required. Facilitates communication and coordination with the Tech I Lead and/or management as necessary. Conveys resource requirements and work plans to maintain effective communication between technicians, Tech I Leads, and other management personnel. Monitors Team Member productivity and their adherence to Technical Entertainment standards, safety protocols, wardrobe/grooming guidelines, driving regulations, radio usage policies, and other UO policies. Reports any instances of non-compliance to the relevant venue and/or technical leadership.
  • Assists in technical training and implementation of all training materials. Maintains and shares job knowledge and assists in developing Team Members.
  • Assist with inventory of tools, equipment, material, and other UO property, ensuring proper care, maintenance, and storage is upheld. Ensures a safe working environment and assists with regular inspections. Notify management of any material needs or safety concerns.
  • Troubleshoots and identifies technical issues, escalating to the responsible maintenance team and management when appropriate.
  • Ensures proper completion of all technical documentation; to include daily checklists, SOPs, daily FYI, inventory, and other such documentation. Complete required training documentation including assessments and check off lists.
  • Accountable to strictly adhere to all policies and procedures, as defined by the Entertainment Department, governing the safe operation of all technical equipment.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
  • Technical school: is preferred.
  • Associate degree (AA): is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree : is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
  • 3-5 years' experience using advanced control systems, likely within the theme park/theater industry in a technical capacity preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Prior experience on advanced show control systems such as Medialon, Ovation, Alcorn McBride, Birket, Allen Bradley, QSYS and Navigator.
  • Advance knowledge in technical disciplines needed to operate assigned venue.
  • Basic computer skills with basic experience in Microsoft Office suite
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • Valid Florida Driver's License

    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
    • Ability to make decisions under stress.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to write detailed information such as daily FYI, observations, and assessments.
    • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
