Technical Artist Responsibilities


  • Work closely with graphics programmers to build the next cutting-edge real-time graphics and technology for virtual reality and alternate reality.

  • Partner closely with engineering and design teams to define and develop content.

  • Design, manage and maintain the pipeline from artists and designers through to deployment.

  • Optimize content through enhancing performance and instructing the artists and designers on asset creation, modeling and texturing best practices.

  • Develop prototype, profile and optimize shaders.

  • Assist in other related technical and artistic tasks as needed.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Requires a Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Entertainment Technology, Computer Science, or related field and 24 months of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. Requires 24 months of experience involving the following:

  • 1. Maya, Python, PyMEL, PySide, or PyQt

  • 2. Working in game development as a Technical Artist

  • 3. Game profiling and optimization techniques

  • 4. Working with shaders

  • 5. Creating 3D art pipeline tools

  • 6. Communicating across team members including engineers and artists

  • 7. Making tools and automation for packages including Maya, Houdini, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, ZBrush, Knald, Marmoset, or Photoshop

  • 8. Shipping products with stringent runtime performance constraints including complex mobile, 3D applications, or games

  • 9. Programming in C++ and C#

  • 10. Shader programming based on GLSL, HLSL, and Unity

  • 11. Working across lighting methods including PBR, HDR, IBL, pre-baked, and dynamic lighting

  • 12. Low-level, real-time graphics pipeline concepts

  • 13. Virtual reality including Rift, Vive, Quest, or GearVR

  • 14. Real-time game engines including Unity and Unreal and

  • 15. Git.
