Job Description
The Technical Services Project Specialist is responsible to test and document systems used by Technical services and to provide training in those systems. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Technical Services, and as a member of the Technical Services team, the Technical Services Project Specialist will apply best practices to ensuring workflows and system updates relevant to Technical Services are created and maintained. Essential to the position is clear communication, managing change in Technical Services technologies, and a desire to work closely with library colleagues as well as faculty and students from across the Virginia Tech community.
Required Qualifications
-Demonstrated communication skills with wide range of constituencies
-Demonstrated experience in electronic resources workflows within a library setting
-Demonstrated experience in documenting workflows and troubleshooting problems in Alma and OCLC technologies
-Proven organizational skills
-Strong computer literacy skills including fluency with basic office tools (Microsoft Office, Adobe Pro, and Google products); willingness to learn new tools and technologies
-Experience providing training or instruction
Preferred Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree
-Excellent organization and interpersonal skills.
-Experience working in an academic library
-Proven record of customer service excellence.
-Demonstrated experience in teaching new technology skills to a group.
