Position Overview:

Our client is expanding their purchasing/supply chain team and is looking to add a technical strategic sourcing specialist who will be responsible for sourcing goods, materials, and services at competitive prices playing a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of their manufacturing processes by overseeing and optimizing supply/purchasing activities. The candidate will collaborate closely with manufacturing and supply chain teams to procure materials, parts, and equipment necessary for production while maintaining cost-effectiveness and high-quality standards. This position requires a strategic thinker who can manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and analyze market trends to drive continuous improvement in our procurement strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to determine material and equipment requirements for production.
  • Identify and evaluating quotes for potential suppliers based on cost, quality, and reliability criteria.
  • Generating quote comparisons and contributing to internal supplier selection based on the quotes.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure advantageous pricing and favorable terms.
  • Monitor market trends and supply chain dynamics to anticipate potential challenges and opportunities.
  • Implementing inventory optimization strategies within the company.
  • Negotiating price, quantity, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and other important data.
  • Resolve supplier performance issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Analyze and calculate costs of procurement and suggest methods to decrease expenditure.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements related to procurement and manufacturing.
  • Generate and implement efficient sourcing and category management strategies.
  • Manage the company's supply portfolio ensuring transparency of spending

Skills/Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferred), Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in purchasing or procurement within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Proficient in using ERP systems and other procurement software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies a plus.
