Minimum qualifications:

  • Experience writing for the web with Markdown, HTML, or CSS.


Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in writing, engineering, or scientific-related field.
  • Experience planning and publishing documentation for developers across multiple languages and use cases.
  • Experience researching and writing documentation.
  • Ability to read and understand source code written in Java, Node, or Python.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Technical writers communicate complex information clearly, concisely and accurately, and without relying on jargon. As a technical writer, your role involves tasks such as writing conceptual overviews and procedures, reading and writing example code, or updating help center queries and FAQs. Technical writers play a big part at Google. They are a key link between developers, marketing associates, developer advocates, as well as all the external users and developers, tying together many vital but disparate parts of the Google ecosystem.

You develop complex, in-depth communications for internal and external audiences and manage projects that involve coordinating multiple junior writers.

As a Technical Writer, you will craft Google Workspace developer experiences through guides, code samples, and reference materials. You will work with teams across the company to support third-party integrations and custom solutions that bring Google Workspace and other Google solutions together.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $102,000-$150,000 bonus equity benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, and publish documentation for feature launches and updates in coordination with product and engineering teams.
  • Develop content strategies to reach diverse developer audiences.
  • Maintain and optimize documentation based on customer feedback, usage data, and bug reports.
  • Build test solutions using Google Workspace APIs to learn the technology, stay updated, and understand developer journeys.
  • Research industry trends and how organizations and other third-parties use Google Workspace APIs to support their business.
