The Bureau of Technology Management (BTM) is currently recruiting to fill a Technology Architect and Site Reliability Engineer (IS Technical Services CNS/ADM) position located at the Department of Corrections central office at 3099 E. Washington Ave., Madison, WI.

Note: This position will be able to work 100% remotely but may be in the office as needed (first day will be in office to retrieve mobile equipment).

Position Summary

This position functions as a Technology Architect and Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) in design, support and coordination of DOC's technology including a Kubernetes container platform, tools and processes. Responsibilities include providing the technical expertise to strategically design and implement enterprise technology solutions that ensure consistency with departmental and statewide architectures and meet availability standards, technical leadership across the agency, and defining technology that support business operations, minimizing manual systems work to focus on efforts that bring long-term value while moving the agency to a data driven decision making organization. This position requires advanced knowledge of hardware and software platforms, virtualization, network, Active Directory, Kubernetes and related technologies. Additionally, the position will be responsible for effective management of DOC DevOps platform.

Salary Information

The starting pay is between $89,601 and $121,035 per year, plus excellent benefits. Pay on appointment may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the compensation plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code. The pay schedule/range is 07-32. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency to employment. Applicants who fail or refuse the drug screen will not be given further consideration for employment.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:

• Researching and recommending appropriate system architecture and hardware/software for applications.

• Vetting, implementing, and enforcing technology standards, policies, and procedures.

• Building and maintaining working relationships with vendors, site contacts, administrators, etc.

• Providing IT consultation and technical assistance to staff and customers.
