SUMMARY: The Telecom Technician assists the IT Director in the day-to-day service, maintenance and troubleshooting of the Resort phone system. Assists the IT Department in the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of new or existing guest wireless (high speed internet) systems.

Essential job FUNCTIONS:

• Undergo on-the-job training to install and maintain all aspects of the Wild Dunes phone system including wire and cabling.

• Provide technical system support including, but not limited to, installation, maintenance, modification and repair of telecommunications equipment, products and/or systems.

• Troubleshoot information technology issues as relates to Guest High Speed Internet Access (HSIA) as trained by Wild Dunes IT

• Assist guests, groups, and owners in the resolution of wired or wireless connectivity issues. Team Member will report to the IT Director and IT Systems Analyst.

• Maintain and install equipment and components related to phones.

• Move, relocate and reinstall equipment as directed by the IT Director.

• Respond to trouble tickets, perform troubleshooting activities, and repair/replace malfunctioning equipment.

• Interfaces with outside vendors to resolve problems.

• Provide status reports to the IT Director as needed.

• Install and troubleshoot wireless routers in private homes and condos.

• Coordinate installations with the cable provider and the home owner.

• Replace malfunctioning modems or Resort-installed wireless access points (WAPs) as directed by Wild Dunes IT.

• Order replacement equipment as needed.

• Assist guests, groups, and owners when HSIA issues are encountered. *

• Provide status reports to the Systems Analyst as needed.

• Maintains constant awareness of safety issues, (i.e. broken glass, frayed electrical cords, leaks, broken locks and suspicious persons). Reports all safety incidents to on-duty supervisor.

• Acts with responsibility towards all company property, supplies and equipment.

• Maintains a professional appearance. Follows all Wild Dunes Resort dress code standards.

• Remains alert, courteous and helpful to the guests and colleagues at all times.

Team Member is held accountable for all duties of this job and other duties as assigned.

eXPERIENCE & eDUCATION:

• High school diploma or equivalent and some experience working with the public.

• Previous telecom or cable experience preferred.

• Knowledge of outside wiring related to phones preferred

• Experience with internal wiring in homes including, but not limited to, phone jacks and related interfaces preferred

• Must be able to work independently and collaboratively with the Telecom and IT teams.

• Must be able to read and understand technical manuals, schematic diagrams, and related documentation.

• Must have valid driver’s license.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States

• Must have strong financial competence

• Must be able to perform in a highly confidential environment

• Must be able to read, write and speak English

• Must have strong computer skills

• Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

Working CONDITIONS:

• Must be able to walk up and down stairs, lift or move heavy furniture, and work with low-voltage electricity and related cabling.

  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, fog, heat)
  • Must be able to work indoors or outside
  • Must be able to stand on feet throughout the day
  • Must be able to climb stairs frequently
  • Must be able to frequently lift & carry up to 20 lbs and occasionally lift up to 75 lbs; such lifting to including carrying weight up and down stairs
  • Must be able to bend, squat crawl, kneel, push, pull, and walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis.
