This is a casual/per diem position working 12-hr shifts (either 6am-6:30pm, or 6pm-6:30am). Shifts will vary. Weekend flexibility preferred. Located at both Scripps Mercy San Diego (Hillcrest) and Chula Vista.

What you'll do:
  • Responsible for monitoring patients on cardiac and/or SPO2 (continuous oxygen saturation) via telemetry equipment.
  • This may include monitoring patients when transporting to and from procedures/units.
  • Interprets cardiac rhythms/SPO2 and reports changes to the RN.
  • Able to prioritize notification to the RN based on emergent patient care needs.
  • Identifies and maintains integrity of the telemetry system and reports all malfunctions and needed adjustments.
  • Responsible for printing telemetry strips and documenting per unit standards.
  • May be responsible for placing patient on cardiac/SPO2 monitor, change batteries, and set up leads.
  • May perform clerical and other duties as requested per unit standard.


Qualifications
Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
  • Must successfully complete the Scripps Health EKG Examination during interview process
Required Certification/Registration:
  • American Heart Association BLS for Health Care Providers
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
  • Completion of formal telemetry training which may include
    • A class or online course
    • Electrocardiogram (EKG) or Arrhythmia Certification course
    • Completion of a Paramedic, Cardio-Vascular, EMT, MD or RN program, or other cardiac related programs
  • 6 months of Cardiac Monitoring experience
  • Basic Arrhythmia Certification
