General Statement of Duties

Repairs and maintains energy management system and temperature control systems in school facilities. Assists Mechanical Trades Supervisor, Business Manager and Mechanical Trades staff in operation of Siemens and Automated Logic Building Automation Systems (BAS) throughout the school system. Serves as field technician, working with and without supervision and with C&M Trades staff and contractors.

Essential Duties

• Installs, repairs, and maintains all types of temperature control and energy management system components;
• Serves as troubleshooter for HVAC and electrical control problems;
• Assists C&M staff with training on BAS operation;
• Adapts new and existing control programs into existing and new buildings;
• Oversees operation of entire energy management system in Mechanical Trades Supervisor's and Business Manager's absence;
• Attends work daily and be engaged and on task;
• Self auditing practices in safety awareness and procedures;
• Performs other duties as assigned.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

• Checks BAS for correct operation and takes corrective action necessary;
• Inspects and tests BAS for maintenance and troubleshooting problems;
• Maintains records work orders, as-builts etc. of control systems and provides these to the Mechanical Trades Supervisor and Business Manager;
• Available as needed after normal work hours and works rotating shift for after-hours "on-call" duty.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school, trade school or equivalent, with specific HVAC technical training (Journey license desirable), and controls experience/training for commercial applications. Three (3) plus years experience in the repair and maintenance of HVAC systems, temperature control systems, energy management systems, pneumatic controls, electric controls and direct digital controls, including installation of related systems and components. Demonstrated ability to analyze and correct equipment and system malfunctions. Good knowledge of the procedures, materials, tools and practices of the trade and ability to understand blueprints and wiring diagrams. Physical condition that will permit activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting, bending, driving and working under adverse temperatures and/or weather conditions. Ability to work from high altitudes using scaffold, ladders, etc.
