Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

We seek applications for a non-tenure track 9-month Adjunct Faculty appointment to begin Fall 2022. Equity, inclusiveness and diversity are integral to the Department of Instruction and Teacher Education's commitment to excellence in research, instruction, and engagement. We encourage applications from candidates who identify with groups that are historically underrepresented and underserved in the STEM disciplines, and we are interested in candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to building equitable and diverse scholarly environments. The successful candidate will join a department dedicated to the use of curriculum that is culturally responsive to all students it serves.

Responsibilities of the successful candidate include: 1) teaching graduate courses in the Educational Practice and Innovation online EdD degree program with a concentration in STEM Education; 2) delivering course content including integrated STEM Curriculum/Theory/Leadership/Change, Equity Pedagogies, and Research Methods; 3) advising and directing doctoral dissertations; 4) engaging in curriculum development and research for the STEM program; and 5) supporting the service needs of the STEM program, the Instruction and Teacher Education department, and the College of Education.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Candidates must have an earned PhD or EdD in Teaching and Learning with a STEM area focus, Curriculum and Instruction, Foundations, or a related field. Experience with online teaching/learning formats (e.g., Blackboard, Microsoft Teams, Zoom) with an ability to incorporate innovative pedagogies around school/community-based learning and professional development is required.

Must have excellent teaching skills, evidence of a record of scholarly productivity, and the ability to work cooperatively with doctoral candidates and colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications: Evidence of or interest in working with and mentoring students from underrepresented and underserved groups in the STEM fields is preferred. Candidates with expertise in action and improvement science research, paradigms of social justice in education, and STEM area preparation for P-12 and higher education will be given strong consideration. Evidence of academic scholarship including publications and research presentations is desirable.
